Overnight oats never did it for me. I wanted to li Overnight oats never did it for me. I wanted to like them. I tried to choke them down. "Heat them up," they said. Well that's just dumb. If I wanted hot oatmeal I'd make hot oatmeal. No need for all the pregaming.

But I will pregame all day for this. It's like a one night stand between dessert and breakfast.

My spin on overnight oats without the oats. The macros are on point and it's worth getting out of bed for.

Make it!

PS. Hey all you overnight oat lovers...just add the oats!!!
My weight loss journey has been anything but perfe My weight loss journey has been anything but perfect. There's been regain, plateaus, wins, and everything in between. Six years. 80+ lbs of net loss. And more lessons than I can count.

Every journey looks different. The starting point is different, the timeline is different, the tools are different.

But after six years in the trenches, these are five things I believe are universally true and I'll die on every single one of them.

1. A calorie deficit is non-negotiable.
2. Long-term dieting. Does. Not. Work.
3. You cannot go to war with your body and win.
4. Progress doesn't always show up on the scale.
5. GLP-1s don't replace work or discipline. They make space for it.

Agree? Disagree?

Fifty-five. 55. Double nickels. Over half a centur Fifty-five. 55. Double nickels. Over half a century.

No matter how I say it, that number still sounds like early bird dinners, velcro sneakers, and Florida. But now that I'm here, it isn't really as old as it seemed when I was younger. 🤔

My life now looks nothing like I thought it would in my 20s and 30s. Not even close. I'm not even married to the same man. But somewhere in all of the detours, the reinventions, the starting overs, I landed right where I'm supposed to be.

If I have one regret, it's that I spent too much time in my younger years hating the body I was in. I wish I could go back and tell her that the body she hates will grow two humans, survive a car accident, and carry her through some of the most challenging times of her life -- so take better care of it.

If the past six years have taught me anything, it's that reinvention isn't just for the young. And the good news about your 50s is you don't have the hormone levels to care what anyone thinks anyway.

It's the best gift, really. 😉

🥂 Cheers to 55 and beyond...

Week 5 Update 👆 Down 1.2 this week. 5.8 lbs since Week 5 Update 👆

Down 1.2 this week. 5.8 lbs since starting GLP-1 therapy. But the numbers aren't the story this week.

For the first time in my life, I'm not afraid to eat. And I'm not really doing anything differently than before I started GLP-1 therapy — but the choices are easier now. I remember when I used to restrict all day to "make room" for a dinner out. It seemed to always bleed into the next few days...

Food was comfort, entertainment, a reward — and every meal felt like it had to be a culinary experience.

Not anymore.

I still love good food. But not every meal has to be an event, or even delicious. Sometimes food is just fuel. And that's enough for me now.

Food lost its control over me. And when that happened, the healthy habits I already knew became so much easier to live.

I'm not restricting. I'm not afraid. I'm just... in control. And it feels like a completely different life.

Throwback Thursday - Foodie Edition 🫐 This recipe Throwback Thursday - Foodie Edition 🫐

This recipe was supposed to make me famous. Still working on that part.

Triple Berry Sauce, sometimes known as TBS. My most requested recipe since 2020 and still somehow not trending?

It comes together with just a handful of ingredients you probably already have, in about 20 minutes. And it goes with EVERYTHING. Pancakes, waffles, cottage cheese, fruit, yogurt, ice cream... I even make cocktails with it. Need I say more?

You. Have. To. Make. This.

Triple Berry Sauce

Makes 6 servings | 0 Points | 30 cal | 1g protein | 1g fiber
2 cups mixed berries, fresh or frozen
1 tbsp Swerve Granulated Sugar substitute
2 tbsp Swerve Brown Sugar substitute
1 tbsp water
1 tbsp fresh lemon juice
1-2 tsp lemon or orange zest

Combine berries, sugar substitutes, lemon juice, and water. Simmer on low to low-medium, stirring occasionally, until bubbly and thickened to a syrup-like consistency. Remove from heat, stir in zest. Cool completely. Store in fridge up to 10 days — if it lasts that long.
Then come back and tell me... syrup, sauce, jam, or all of the above? Because I've been making it for six years and still haven't figured it out!

Tag your pics #bigfatskinnyberrysauce and help me get TBS the attention it deserves. Or you could just share this post with your friends...

Thank you. But we already know... For years we've Thank you. But we already know...

For years we've been told by our doctors, family, and even friends that we need to lose weight; followed by well-meaning advice on how to do it -- with anecdotal stories of how successfully other people HAVE done it.

They told us to eat less, move more, low fat is where it's at, and carbs are the devil. They demonized dessert, and gave us Deal a Meal, Atkins, and Jenny Craig. And don't even get me started on the exercise routines they had us following. I spent hours sweatin' to the oldies, tae bo-ing, ab crunching and thighmaster-ing.

And when none of that worked, there was Dexatrim and Ephedra...

The results speak for themselves. Here we are, still struggling with our weight. Nothing they are telling us is new, it's just repackaged and delivered with a side of condescension.

If it were that easy, wouldn't we all already be there?

The thing is, we know what to do. We even know how. It's time to quiet the noise, listen to your body, and do the things you know will help you get where you want to go.

You've always known how. It's time to do it your way.

Happy Monday!
xo Lisa 💜

PS. This is actual evidence of me Tae Bo-ing in 2000...
